Harleys California Trip

Harley's good friend John graduated from Berkley University last month! Congratulations!! Harley and John met when they were both serving as U.S. Marines. They've stayed close friends and support each other with major life events. Here he is arriving at Oakland airport to pick up Harley.

They went to the horse races with John's parents. Harley loved it and doesn't the landscaping look absolutely beautiful!? Ever since then that's been one of Harley's latest things besides keeping up with regular sports; he now keeps up with whats going on with the horse races.

This is John's driveway to his apartment in Berkley. Harley thought is was really cool because the landscaping in California is so different than in Utah. He thought it was very pretty and we've b
oth been in our yard since then trying to improve our yard!lol

They went to San Francisco one of the days Harley was in town.

They didn't go to Alcatraz but Harley got some really great pictures!

And of course the lovely Golden Gate bridge.

They also went to a petting zoo!!lol...Awesome

Graduation day!

Here's Harley, John, Jesse and John's little brother. Harley had such a good time visiting California and seeing his Marine Corps. buddies. They are such good guys and we just wish we all lived A LOT closer. John is driving across country to get back to North Carolina before he starts a scuba diving course in Minasota for a Civil Engineer job he has in New York. Good Luck John!!!

Avery's 1 years old!!!

Avery made it to one years old! Hooray Harley and Angie for keeping our child alive this long!!!lol Avery's birthday party was so fun for us. We had a blast having everyone come to our home to celebrate our baby's first birthday. It was a long day for this little one and she handled it like a pro!

Here she is with mom eating crackers and dip! Avery absolutely LOVES crackers!

The food was amazing! Thank you to everyone for participating and helping out with it.

It was so much fun watching Avery open her presents. She ripped the wrapping paper apart and knew exactly what to do!

Avery was in awe when everyone sang happy birthday to her! She loved the attention!

We had fudge brownies and vanilla ice cream for desert. Avery wasn't too sure that she liked it.

POOR KID!!!

Avery absolutely LOVES to see her cousins. I love watching her light up when they walk into a room. We are so glad that Stetson's feeling better and doing o.k. and made it to Avery's party. She was so glad to see him! All the kids had so much fun playing with the balloons and toys. Thank you so much to everyone. It's a birthday party I know Harley and I both will not forget. We couldn't have thought of a better present to give our daughter than surround her with so many people that love her!

So, lately Harley and I have been trying to help Avery learn to feed herself~Isn't she adorable!? Like the bib? It's one of the those that has a pocket at the bottom of it so it catches her spoon and all the food she drops.

A lot of times Avery purposely drops her food to the floor because she's convinced the dogs need to be fed as well. Here she is contemplating "should I eat this or just stick it in my hair for later?"

Here's Avery's Easter basket to the left and Harley's is to the right! You are looking at a bunny chair that fits Avery perfectly. I wanted to get her s
omething that would maybe help teach her how to climb down from things-like the stairs-but found that she dives off of this thing face first! This child doesn't have much fear and gives me a heart attack on a daily basis. She also got some slippers that say "little flirt" on them, a few bunnies (of course) and a bunny miniature blanket that plays lullaby's.

Here's our little stinker checking out h
er Easter basket. After going through the whole thing we did an Easter egg hunt in the house. I helped her walk through the house and find Easter eggs! It was a lot of fun and I think Avery really enjoyed it!

Isn't she CUTE!! Yup! The chair fits her perfectly! We had a lot of fun Easter morning. We went to Huntsville and had a late, yummy lunch with Harley's parents. Afterwards we came home and my parents came up for dinner. The day before we went out to my parents house to color Easter eggs with Sawyer and Stetson. It was a lot of fun. Avery mostly sat in the high chair, ate crackers and talked our ears off! What a fun weekend!

LOOK MOM! You're number one!

This little stinker says you're number one!lol! She also waves like a champ, tries to meow like a kitty, bark like a dog, and says hi. The other day I was at Blockbuster with Avery and we were quietly strolling along trying to find something descent to watch when this woman walks by with her two little boys. Out of nowhere Avery says "HI!" to this this woman!lol It was so funny. This lady looks up at her and starts laughing and says hello back and says "Well, that was perfect timing!" Whenever anyone walks into the room-even the dogs-Avery will greet them with a perfect "hi!" It's awesome. She's still not walking and doesn't seem to have much interest in it yet but, she sure crawls with lightening speed! Harley's still on call 24/7 taking trains to pocatello. I'm still plugging along at the U. I've moved on from general surgery to Neuro which includes operating on the brain and spine. Sounds scary, right...it kinda is.lol I guess it was pretty ambitious of me to want to try it already and only in my 5th week of clinical but, how else will I learn?

Sunday, February 17, 2008

So this little stinker is feeling A LOT better! She's on my schedule now so she's in bed anywhere between
8:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. and gets up with me about 5:30a.m.! She's so happy in the mornings, though,
and doesn't even make a fuss when I put her in her carseat to go to the babysitter's house! She's getting another tooth!!! This will make 6! She certainly does not teeth well. It really bothers her; especially during the night. We took her to her 9 month well check and she's over 17lbs. She's starting to fill out a lot more! She drinks a lot of fluid which is good but also brings lots of soaked through diapers no matter what brand. O-well, what you going to do?! For me, clinicals have been rough, but awesome! I finally set up and assisted 3 surgeries pretty much by myself and only my 10th day! Yeah! The first was an inguinal hernia repair, the second a lumpectomy and axillary node excision, and the last another lumpectomy. Sounds exciting I know. It's really stressful and I've screwed up a lot of things, handed the surgeon the wrong instruments, and contaminated stuff.lol! I haven't been kicked out of an OR during surgery yet so, that's an accomplishment in itself so far. I have been corrected by the surgeons and it makes you feel pretty stupid but, how else am I gonna learn, right?! Harley's on a Pocatello turn and left this morning about 2:00a.m. He's on call 24/7 but, luckily pocatello is only an hour and a half away. Other than that things are good at the Meyer residents. Hope 'yall are doing good as well!

Avery's getting bigger and more curious every day! She loves watching her baby Einstein DVDs and soaks up every minute of them. Right now we both have bronchitis and have tried to just take it easy. Avery's getting frequent breathing treatments to keep her little lungs open and seems to do fine with them during the day and only at night does she seem to fuss a lot with it cuz she's tired. I finally finished my bookwork for school and start my 600 hours of clinical at the University hospital! Yeah!!! I'm so excited and nervous. They have 20 operating rooms so, I'm gonna have my hands full! After two years of school, having a baby and all the fluctuating weight I finally made it! Not to mention all the stress and holidays in-between. Harley's trying to decide whether or not he's going to start doing a Conductors position again at work. If he does Avery and I will definitely miss him while he's away!
